An ongoing compendium of my favorite interesting and wonderful places to go in the Los Angeles metroplex..

LISTENING
~~~~~~~~~~
Listening to Indie 103.1, even with commercials this station is good.. especially Jonesy's Jukebox featuring the inimicable Steve Jones, guitar god of the Sex Pistol and DJ extraordinaire. This station has the most celebrity DJs, and most down to earth DJs, TK, Native Wayne,  Camp Freddy, Passport Approved, and Rob Zombie's Spookshow International
Long time favorite for listening is KCRW for public radio for running gamut on mostly impartial reporting, interesting shows (a must listen is This American Life by Ira Glass and a plethora of great radio DJs, Nick Harcoourt, Nick Harcourt, Tom Schnabel, Anne Lit, Garth Trinidad, Jason Bentley, Gary Calamar, Liza Richardson, Trish Halloran, Chris Douridas  and the most amazing playlists. My home away from Home...
From the elegant library bar onto the festive holiday patio with the candalaria alcoved in the walls. i love the curtained seating areas and the design of the place.  the Service was exemplary, we were waited on hand and foot. i enjoyed the deliciously flavored mussels and the very tender lamb shanks. One of my favorite places..
I love the modern ambience of this place. The portions are generous and the flavors delicious. I usually have the chicken with rosemary that's slow roasted in applewood and the chicken caesar salad is molto bene!
ART Dates :: Los Angeles ::
Art Screens Ongoing Yard Sale on Fridays and Sundays from April 23, 2004 until further notice
~In an effort to get over my shyness and fear of criticism, I'm going to make an effor now and
show my art "live" at 351 North Crescent Heights Blvd. in Los Angeles as a weekly yard sale all while i make art screens as a "live" creative process at that address.  My sister has offered her yard for the cause of me getting over myself.  I'm hereby inviting artists, struggling and otherwise engaged, living and working in Los Angeles or, if not, traveling through on the way to who knows where..and art afficionados of all stripes, streaks and permutations to join me in the creative process.  So feel free to stop by, heckle me, criticize my work and, if you're so inclined, bring a bottle of wine and some strawberries, some boursin and water crackers.  Who knows? We could end up creating a scene and have some wild Art party or something..
Notes on Friday, August 3, 2001                                Multifacets Flux Muse presents " Sharing the Gift'
              7 p.m. to 9 p.m.                                         L. Jewell in  a vocalist's showcase
I had a wonderful time, the songs were well sung, the guitarist, Buddy Black and I jelled very well.  As soon as the pictures are developed, I'll add them to this page.  My friends and family really enjoyed the show.  My friends in particular said they'd come and see me sing again.  My family, of course, will always be there.  The manager of the restaurant said I did well and we'll do it again.  I'm happy.  I hope you'll join me next time.
Crushed red velvet wallpaper, black paint, and recessed lighting highlight the atmosphere in this valley staple. Universal Bar and Grill serves up cheap drinks and pitchers of beer for happy hour, and a 4 page menu anytime until 11 that?s colored with shades of Mexican, traditional pub, and down-home. They even serve breakfast daily until 3pm. A hardcore local crowd with a sprinkling of slumming hipsters fills the three-room bar nearly every night. So, if you want to break a rack on the single pool table, you'll be a little cramped. -- Ian Kenney   (Photo: David Elroy)
